Never before the nation has seen a more unanimous cry and anger against the political class, than it is witnessing now. The anger is palpable and for a reason of course. Almost everybody is certain that the inept functioning of the political class has brought the nation to such a passe. And there is partial truth in that as well.
However if we ponder for a while and look slightly harder at ourselves, do we really believe that it is only a specific class who single handedly, has undone and put the very idea of our Nation at threat? The politicians are not aliens but part of ourselves only. Are we not also responsible for the systematic failure of the dream called India? Yes each one of us are reasponsible. Consider the following points;
Everytime our rich and famous decides to through a lavish Do with sense numbing puffs generously thrown in, they are creating a ready and lucrative market for these generation spoiling chemicals and a flourishing trade route for the Afgani and Pakistani nacro dealers. The very same trade route has been used by the latest visitors from Pakistan to wreck havoc at the heart of Mumbai.
Everytime time we patronise our friendly neighbourhood Cell Phone Vendor to get us a quick connection, bypassing all the regulations, we are weakening our very own Surveillience System. The same weakness is effectively capitalised by the thugs to create a seamless network amongst themselves under the very nose of our security system.
Everytime we purchase a gas cylinder from the black market just to avoid the queue at the distributor's shop, we are helping somebody to get access to a potent explosive.
Everytime we buy a movie ticket in Black, because we do not want to miss the first day first show of our matinee idol, or buying our favorite DVD from the flee market, we are patronising a parallel economy within the country, which can be readily used by the perpitrators of terror to fund their activity.
Everytime we are jumping traffic light, violating traffic rule, we are tempting the impoverished traffic cop to grease his palm, thereby weakening our police system.
Lets take a hard and close look at ourselves. In the new century lets redefine patriotism for oursleves. For me it is not chest thumping, gun wielding histrionics alone. For me respecting the rule of the land is Patriotism. Doing what is right, even if it means taking a slightly longer route, is Patriotism. Making a conscious choice not to succumb to corruption is Patriotism.
Define Patriotism for yourself.
We can longer sit back and be satisfied with criticising our politicians and signing few online petitions.
Lets Be the Change We Want to See......

The entire nation is irate with the callousness of our politicians.My sincere request to all the members of Media, to actively paritcipate in bringing accountability to those occupying high chairs. They have done a commendable job by airing the voices of common man. In the same spirit, now its time for them to show the guts to shun the sound byte hungry politicians. The way Narendra Modi used the Taj crisis backdrop to showcase his political agenda was despicable. Our Media could have done well by denying him the airtime, and should have carried on with their excellent job of covering the crisis. Please for heaven's sake stop giving these idiots and their inanae babling undue importance and they will automatically be brought to sizes.
This requires a little bit of committed stand on their part. But I am sure our Media fraternity realises that they have bigger role to play in today's society than merely to top the TRP rating.
